Life

Life

A Poem by ShaneBerry
"

Here then gone, Like the gentle Swan.

"
Life
How Transient it is,
Like the edge of  a knife,
Here then gone,
Like the gentle Swan,
And dark, as satins’ spawn.
  An epic tail,
Or a long unraveled trail.
No one the same,
And not one reclaimed.
When started
It cannot be stopped.
When stopped,
It cannot be restarted.
all the hell and terrible strife,
Is a costly price,
The price, for life.

You have captured quite forensically and clinically all the beautifully mysterious but shocking qualities of the subject in such short, brutal, yet savagely accurate words. A work of art in concision and meaning. These poems you have created may be short but deal with grand subjects on a very grand and eloquent scale.

Dear Shane,

This is a beautiful and perceptive piece. Loved "When started / It cannot be stopped. / When stopped, / It cannot be restarted."

Excellent job. Greatly enjoyed.

Best regards,

Rick

I think in the line "an epic tail" you should change it to "an epic tale."

I definitely agree with your messages here, a very introspective piece. I see potential in this, keep it up!

Wow, this was incredible. The picture and title combined led me to expect something completely different than the direction you took this. The imagery and vivid wordplay you constructed this piece with just blew me away. Awesome write!

So true and so well crafted in just a few words! It hits firmly but gently at the cost paid for life. Good verse!

Very interesting how you wove the rhyme scheme in... I think you did a great job showing the truth of how life does function and the parts that are still nebulous that are yet to be understood. A very clean cut kind of poem that captures, if for a moment, the very ambiguous nature of life and all that it entails.... Good job

this is a wonderful poem about how fragile life is and the many tribulations one must undergo just to be a part of this thing called life.
