Before The Cliff

He walked over to the crystal clear glass desk, 

He always felt strange setting a cup filled with liquid down on the desk, for fear it wouldn’t stay and just keep falling.

His large blade was strapped to his back, no ordinary man could lift it,

It made him feel like he was the hero from “ the sword in the stone”

And that was all he wanted to be, a hero.

“Hey Rick, do we have anymore assignments?” asked his Mentor as he walked into the lounge.

Rick shook his head, though he felt like a hero, he was still shy here in the army.

Solar energy had made a big breakthrough, and was now the only source of energy humans used.

The same energy that made the soldiers, there were only three,

Rick, the youngest.

Oren, Rick’s’ mentor,

And Chronos, the strongest.

They all worked for the army, but what would we be fighting over if we no longer used Fossil fuels?

Land, conquest had made a huge comeback. And the S.S., “Solar Soldier” program would hopefully put an end to it, but the S.S. were owned by the Solar power company, so they were used as hit men, more than Soldiers.

“Or, Oren… why did you accept me as your Protégé? You aren’t dieing or anything are you?” Asked Rick.

“no, but if I do, I hope you will be there to take my place.” he said with a smile,

Rick nodded, then looked out of the window at the scenery, their base was deep in the forest, were no one could see them. He looked out soo far that he could see the beach, and the cliff were he and Chronos would dive off of when they were younger, before they decided to join soldier…
