Fire Fight

Fire Fight

A Poem by ShaneBerry
"

Part one of "Platonic Plutonic Nuclear and the New Clear Visions" Not about any event, obviously but... I can only hope to one day have a love like I can create in my imagination and stories.

"
Fire Fight

The light from the flares ignite her face,
Forcing him to relive every mistake.
Every day seems like a never ending race,
In this, the world that never gives, only takes.

As clouds fall, dripping from the sky,
The rain drops.
giving their tears,
A place to hide.
On top of the hill,
They will rise,
Hand in hand.
The missiles ignite,
And nothing's right.

But this can't be wrong.
Waited soo long,
But this is the end,
Approaching them faster,
He feels it.
The warmth from disaster.
And now it's upon us,
So now He'll be honest.
And say...
He's always loved her.

He holds her face,
Gives his heart for her to keep.
They begin to kiss,
Before their lips can meet.
The missile did not miss...

Author's Note

ShaneBerry
The beginning of a series of poems "Platonic Plutonic nuclear and the new clear visions" I hope you all enjoy these highly hypothetical and abstract poems, they're not about my current life but what I long for and wish in this life. (Not nuclear war obviously but love that could wits and such an event lol)

Excellent piece, Shane. Brutal and true to life. One should live every day knowing that the missile is on its way. We just don't know exactly when it will hit.

Hope you are doing well. Send me a note when you have the chance.

Best regards,

Rick

Wow Shane, stunning. This was really beautiful. Your words and flow were powerful on the reader. The title threw me at first. I wasn't expecting this poem when I clicked on "Fire Fight". In hindsight though, I feel the title is perfect.
Looking forward to reading more of your writing friend.
