Daddy?

Daddy?

A Poem by Aradie Rain
"

I'm not sure why this scene came into my head. My father is alive still.

"

"Daddy?"

Empty silence

"DADDY!"

"Daddy, please wake up!"

I watched

as the little girl ran to her father

lying on the ground

Her small fragile person

flung itself to the ground

and over her fathers boody

Her sobbs could be heard

through traffic

and down the block

Sirens soon came

and drowned out the little girls cries

I could see

the little girls blue dress

now turned red

She sniffled,

looked up at me

the tears in her eyes said it all

"How could you do this?

Why?

Why my daddy?"

Sirens came closer

I wondered what was taking so long

The sirens stopped

I looked down at my clothes

My blues dress, now red

My hands covered in blood

Whats going on?

The big people in blue

came and pulled me away

I saw my reflection

in the car with the flashing lights

It wasnt her daddy...

It was mine

wow! i like the twist...the way all the pain of that gal in one go got transferred to the narrator/poet...nice one...

Crushing twist, landed really well having started with detached observation. I felt the emotion grow, and really enjoyed the poem for it.

Wow, such a powerful and sad poem! (Which is completely set by the picture, too). The grief of the girl, yet the detachedness of the narrator ("I wondered what was taking so long") makes this piece very stark and wonderful.

Some story are reminder to be thankful for father, mother and family. Your poem tell a sad story. To lose someone to violence would be heart breaking.
