Patient Enemy

Patient Enemy

A Poem by Aradie Rain
"

Couldn't sleep again last night.

"

What do you do

When memories flash through your mind

Like nightmares in your sleep?

When screams and tears in the night

escape from you

What do you do

when closing your eyes

means opening them to a painful past?

Curling into a ball

Your body shivers

though its 90 degrees

Afraid to sleep

Not knowing what will arise next

Dare not close your eyes

For burned images await on the other side

When relaxing

means remembering the feelings

no woman or child should ever know

What do you do

When you cant turn out the lights,

because sleep is no longer a friend

but a patient enemy?

That was very compelling... all very intriguing questions, it is sad to think they must be asked... that some can never find comfort in the simple places they should. A very emotionally driven piece of writing.
