No Such Thing as Happy EndingA Poem by Ice PenadaA 'once upon a time' with no 'happily ever after'I was no damsel in distress but a prince came my way He was exactly who I wanted; he knew the right words to say In my world of black and white, he became the first shade of grey So I took a leap of faith in belief that he would stay
We started talking whenever we're free until it becomes every day He learned about my tragedies, how I was never fond of clichés He told me about a place so beautiful but far away He asked me if he could take me there if it means running away
He took me by the hand and like the trees they swayed As we walk along the corridor where he met me halfway It was the kind of moment that my mind can easily replay It was the kind of feeling that I have to keep cache
It was a Saturday night when things started to lead astray The moment of truth has come, the one we tried to delay Love had taken its moment and now ask for a costly repay There's a dragon in the entrance that from the beginning we ought to slay
He needed to choose from the choices that I lay He needed to choose what to break, my heart or a rule we should obey He gave me his decision after thinking for a day I said if that's what makes him happy then I'll be glad to be betrayed
I can't help but wonder if it was all done in play The prince became somebody I can't even say "Hey" And though I kept on telling them that I'm finally okay The magic that I felt for him hasn't changed even today © 2016 Ice Penada |
