I Am Born

I Am Born

A Poem by ShameemAkhtar

Out of tears I am born
A drop,
drowned amidst others

The ripples carry me through,
carry me across
Drops burbling around

I am born
And I am drowned
And I fuse

I embrace silence
My heart kisses death
And more tears come

I am born
And I die.
Tears of my own making

Maybe
It’s only to die
That I am born

Out of tears

Tears that flow
In my veins.

Blood drops down my cheeks
My eyes wallow in a pool
A pool where I am buried

In tears I am born
With tears
I am born

Only

To depart

Wow. That was a really good writing job. I like how everything comes full cirlce with the tears; you born out of them and you died with them.

I really the triplet stanza approach you take. It plays off the Hegelian Dialectic very well. And the ending, sheer concrete beauty. You are gifted poet, Shameem.

To live and die. Born again through tears of pain. Very emotional.
