Be the You, You Wanna Be

Be the You, You Wanna Be

A Poem by Shalini Dinesh

It's okay to be down and let out the tear,
It's okay when others cannot hear.
It's okay if the light shines but you're in the dark
Sing your song, and let you be the lark.

It goes, goes, and goes on each day.
It's okay; that's how it is and no other way.
It's okay if you are not all the time strong.
It's okay as long as you don't stay there for long.

It's okay if others can't hear you cry.
It's okay if you don't question them why.
It's okay if you don't want to blend
Be your soldier, as there's no angel God will send.

Be your light.
Put up the flight.
Pull up your sleeve.
Throw out the grieve.

Time ticks, but for all,
Smile, and it's your call.
Be the you, you wish to be
Not the one in the mirror you see.
