The Little Girl in Memory Lane

The Little Girl in Memory Lane

A Poem by Shalini Dinesh

As I walk into my memory lane,
Flipping pages of reminiscence chain,
Stopped in awe, froze did I ?
Looking at me, I questioned why!

A young free soul, roamed in joy did she?
In her tiny world laughed in glee,
Splashes of paint and colors all,
Those childhood days as I recall!

Like flowers that bloomed in spring light,
Filled with love, was her smile bright,
No fret, or distress nor concerned was she,
The little girl in my memory I see....

I wonder why & where'd she go?
Took with her the joyous glow
In souvenir of thoughts she stood so tall,
Once again to become her I'd give my all....

Reminiscing 'said' subtly, picking out times past and the happiness they brought you! Looking back, remembering then holding those happy, precious and magical moments young children are supposed to be gifted day and night long! Your final line is both heartfelt and sincere, Shalini - love it!
