An American Quilt written September 2001 (9-11)A Poem by shallimarRoseWritten the days following 9-11 2001...An American Quilt aka The Patchwork Quilt
This country's like a patchwork quilt each patch was sewn with care Its fabric's of the finest silk the strongest in the ware
Each thread was sewn in firmly and each stitch a hero made then tied with knots securely for a hope that would not fade
Each patch was made so different yet everyone's the same each one's a different size and shape and each one has a name
In each patch there are patterns each pattern has it's place the texture's shapes and colors are religion creed and race
Each patch has a foundation each one was founded strong they together formed a nation and they sing a common song
Though others may be jealous and try reducing it to gravel they may clip a thread or two this quilt will not unravel
written the days following the tragedy of September 11th 2001
