Pirates Muse

Pirates Muse

Pirates Muse

Through darkened clouds of rain and thunder

There came a clamor from that 'twas under

Beneath the raging sea so dark

A tale I thought dare not embark

Thunder stormed and the ocean raged

Clouds had rolled upon the page

Darkness fell and dankess filled

In every corner, mindless shrills

Ships were tossed and thrown about

Than I screamed, Please let me out

I can not catch them, I can not reach

For sure they'll wash up on the beach

I felt the lungs within me log

I watched the rolling in of  fog

I saw the waves grow ever stronger

I could not hold on any longer

Down and under I fell within

The witchy waves of pirates grin

While all the crow’s-nest watchers yell

For sure this is the depths of hell

I own the darkest coldest feeling

Than I reach to touch the ceiling

I'm reaching for a dixie cup

This is a dream , Please wake me up

The ships continue round and round

I look for me but I can't be found

Where am I, I need to know

I grab an oar and start to row

But rowing seems a bit remote

You see I did not have a boat

I only have these hands and fingers

I hear the voice of pirate singers

They're clamorings, meaningless words

I can't understand, they sound absurd

I try to drain the water out

But there is no drain, there was no spout

Then I awoke, It was a dream

I should not have watched the show I seen

I muse the thought of oceans door

I don't like pirates anymore

...but they were not the pirates, you were. It's just that you dreamed you were them. And when you woke, a pirate you were, once again. And the sea pulled you into its loneliness, where you dreamed and dreamed some more. And when shore at last appeared, you were a pirate oh no, no more. Until of course you dreamed some more.

Thank you was it Mike?? I appreciate your reading and kind comment.. shallimarRose
It only takes one bad experience to make us dislike something associated with that experience... you took a fun tongue in cheek approach at expressing it.

I love your poems, anytime!

This brought back memories of a pirate show I saw a few years ago at Treasure Island on the Las Vegas Strip.

Glad yu enjoyed.. xo shallimarRose
i think you meant "I grab an oar and start to row"?

i like this...i saw Pirates of the Caribbean" and maybe "ocean's door"

i saw ghost words like ghost pirates driving ships of writing...and you trying to find yourself within---

wanting to wake from the dream...where are my words? i can't catch up to them, and they haunt me like a bad dream.
