Words in the WindA Poem by shallimarRoseSomething I wrote in 2009Words in the Wind
Its not
far to that
secret place in the mind that opens
to give the heart wings or quivers
in corners of unconsciousness deep are
the solaces of grammatical articulations shining
like beacons in the night when no
one is there to see or hear or know the words that embed themselves in the
corners of the sleeping mind awaiting their awakening if it can
be felt it can be written if it can
be written it can be felt words, like silent roads curve unexpectedly the mind
recalls what the heart may not and the
heart recalls what the mind has hidden away let the
pipers play into the woodwork and the
robin sing into the wind for the
best of every season has been
penned at least a million times before Spring still plays to stealing glances Summer sun
still shines bright Fall still
wisps in the wind of scented nutmeg and old man Winter still howls in the bitter cold for all these things remain the same yet with every stroke of ink they become anew because all
that they say and all that they have said and all they have written was written in blood by bleeding hearts with retractable pens who wrote of
memories and heartbreak self portraits perhaps of a species on the verge of becoming extinct where words are left to play alone but words in the wind never blow away © 2009 bj smith Aka shallimarRose
