For Her

For Her

A Poem by Ken Baldwin

I've saved the world dozens of times.
From all sorts of Armageddon.
Zombies, nuclear war, vampires, asteroid,
Virus, aliens, solar ejection, Skynet,
To name a few.

Not for humanity.
Not because it's the right thing,
Not to prove myself,
But so my first love can live.

Her unaware of my feelings,
And it doesn't even matter.
Neither does my life,
As long as she survives.

My life is nothing,
Without her in this world.
I'd kill for her.
I'd die for her.
Given the right circumstance,
I might even live for her.
