Broken (Noon)

Broken (Noon)

A Poem by Ken Baldwin
"

A day that has not gotten easier with the passage of time.

"
With a heavy broken heart,
I stumble through my dark life.
Remembering nothing but pain,
Joy darkened by everlasting eclipse.

A past, have I the strength to outrun?
A future, will I be allowed to have?
Stuck inside my own mind,
A soul impaled by a mighty anchor.

I forage upon scraps of love,
Left behind by precious few.
I cannot sustain this existence,
Survival is not a way to live.

You shouldn't cry for me,
I do enough for us both.
Tears becoming shards of glass,
Cutting me to ribbons.

So I wait for the light to find me,
For in this dark I can't see the way.
Huddled in terror upon the floor,
Even when someone touches me,
Feeling forever alone.

These are very cutting deep words Ken as well as incredibly written with foresight and thoughtfulness from experience. I have had to deal with and suffer through depression for most of my life. And these words you wrote speak to me on that personal level. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
