The truth

The truth

A Poem by William heath
"

Not letting someone believe a lie about themselves, even when you think it's better for them.

"

I hope you'll forgive me for the things I'm about to say

You can, but I’ll speak my mind anyway.

You’ll have to understand, I’m not apologizing for my actions,

But honesty for me has it’s simple attraction.

I don’t lie, and I have no reason to be deceitful,

So do me a favor and keep your questions trivial.

People often know the answer to their questions

But only realize when they look at their own reflections.

I’m not trying to be an a*s,

I simply believe if you know it, don’t ask.

White lies are accepted,

And our whole lives we've pretended.

“Does this dress make me look fat?”

“No dear, you look wonderful!”

Only our best wishes are intended.

Its things like this that are perfectly alright,

But if you ask me if I like you, your reaction might not be taken so slight.

Big things matter! Life isn’t a game,

People sometimes need guidance, so just give it to them plain!

The truth is needed sometimes in life,

It cuts through the bull s**t and shines through like a headlight.

If you want people to be all they can be,

The only thing you can give them is honesty,

don’t let them believe a lie

Because in the end, they won’t be strong enough to survive.
