Cut

Cut

A Poem by William heath
"

About a girl in need of help, and her friend who tries to show her she doesn't have to live with that.

"
That’s it?
Another cut, another slit.
Sometimes it’s all you need,
Can you feel it?

I can’t
Not anymore.
It stopped working, long ago.

Sometimes it takes your mind off things,
Helps you escape reality’s cling.
You have control for a minute or two,
But after it’s done there’s nothing else you can do.
So you do it again and again,
you come to see the blade as your friend.

Don’t believe what the world has said.
They’re liars and cheats, and their hearts are dead.

I love you so much,
Every sight, every touch.
I could say I understand you,
But I’d be going off a hunch.
In some ways I’m crazy, just like you.
But I have no idea what you’re really going through.

After all that time,
The crying,
The bleeding
I realized that all I was needing was a friend by my side.

The scars will stay,
And the pain will never fully go away.
But I’ll be here, to tell you it’s okay,
 I’m here to stay.

Definitely sad, yet although very realistic especially perhaps in this time in age it seems.
