I Wrote This For A Friends English Paper What Is A Celebrity??A Story by David Brannan (Shaggs)What is a celebrity? A celebrity is an Actor, Actress, Role Model, Sports Superstar, or any other influential and famous person. What is Famous? Famous is well known and highly regarded as in society. Some maybe known to a broader audience than others, but they all have some kind of impact on mankind. Celebrities have the power to ultimately change the course of life by influencing what people say, do, act, and even dress. Everyone dreams of becoming a celebrity, but only few succeed. Is it worth being a celebrity? I think so and say yes.
As a celebrity you not only get the instant notoriety, you automatically inherit certain things whether they are good or bad, dark or light. One thing is money. Celebrities make enormous amounts of money that could be stacked high resembling towers. Money buys you anything you want, from Fancy cars to ridiculously expensive mansions to the finest clothes. Anything your heart desires money could most likely buy. Money also carries problems and questionable situations. You could get arrested for bribery, buying stolen goods, and buying illegal weapons or drugs. Money can make people go insane with power and some even become stuck up.
Being a celebrity gets you exclusive access to some of the hottest and biggest parties and award shows. You also get special privileges like getting free merchandise such as watches, purses, clothes, gift baskets, and etc. You don't have to ever wait in line to get into the club; you get discounts wherever you go. Celebrity status has another perk that money can't buy and that's a fan base. Loyal fans are the greatest feeling as a celebrity. Knowing there are people always there to support you is what makes our lives more enjoyable. Also fans support you financial and help you obtain a lot of the things and stuff you have and own. Having loyal fans can have adverse effects also. Every once in a while you will get a crazy stalker fan that will follow you everywhere you, hiding in the shadows watching and waiting for you. They will wait outside your house at all hours of the night, take pictures of you, write you letters and notes, buy you things, and even go to extreme lengths as to grab you or get close to you.
Celebrities aren't all glitz and glamor. You are always in the spotlight and even the slightest thing you do is public. Once becoming a celebrity your private life including relationships is thrown into the limelight for the public to see and criticize. With that also comes the media and paparazzi. Yes you are obligated to look good in front of the cameras, and you have to watch what you say, do, act , and dress, but celebrities are people to and they make mistakes and as soon as they do and the media picks up on it the gossip starts flowing. Then you have the peer pressure of other celebrities and influential people. It's not easy being a celebrity that's why so many fail. They fall into depression, nervous breakdowns, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, spousal abuse, and the list goes on. Living the life of a celebrity challenges even the most strongest willed. It drives some celebrities insane because they are constantly thinking and caring what people think about them, not only because of their status but because of what they might think of them as a person. Celebrities are no special and are human just like everyone else.
The Job and life of a celebrity is tough and perilous and it can be overwhelming. The people that chose to become celebrities have carefully weighed and analyzed the risks and cons vs. the pros and have come to the conclusion that the pros outweigh the cons and risks. Celebrities know what they are getting into before even setting foot into the spotlight. After careful consideration I am becoming a celebrity. Watch for me.
