Is There Such Thing As Too Nice

Is There Such Thing As Too Nice

A Story by David Brannan (Shaggs)

Is there such a thing as being too nice? Is it wrong to put other people before yourself knowing you could possibly better yourself or situation? Is it wrong to always want to help?  If being nice and helping is supposed to make you feel good then why is it that people shun or put you down for it? Or why do people not appreciate when someone is genuinely nice and trying to help. They say thank you or thanks for the help, but do they really mean it? Is it sincere? For the most part people have become complacent in saying thank you that it pretty much has no meaning. Useless.  People don't want to help other people but as soon as they are in trouble and need help just like the people they didn't help and they expect someone to come “rescue” them. People expect that you are supposed to drop or stop whatever you're doing in your life and help them out. What happened to just helping out for the satisfaction? And not expecting anything in return or an IOU.

I maybe 25 but I have seen society change a lot over the years. I have been helping people out ever since I had the ability to do so. I been driving since I was 16 and I always make an effort to stop and help someone on the side of the road if they are all by themselves and see if there's anything I can do. I have had times when stuff happened to my car and at least 10 cars passed me before this trucker stopped to help. He was hella nice and cool. He tried for 30mins to help me get my car running by trying different things. He didn't have to do that. The only reason he left is he was on a schedule and he had to keep it. He never gave his name, didn't want no recognition, just a simple handshake and he was gone. What happened to all the people like that? And people wonder why our society is so screwed up and the world is going down the toilet.  WAKE UP!!! PEOPLE. Smell the frickin coffee. Get on the ball and do something other than see what or how much you can get out of people.
