The Legless Man

The Legless Man

A Poem by Shafaz

The legless man walks on

Down this old cobblestone road
Alley twists and turns lead him
Further along the broken stone.

"Why the hurry?" pigeons flock
Dancing to Cat Steps on laundry lines
Fading skin shakes, hysterical,
The laughing man dismisses.

The legless man walks on
Without a tarry, pace by pace
Past the shadows of city rubble
And into the gaping hole.

The legless man walks no more.
