The Simple ThingsA Poem by Tim AllisonHow often do we overlook the simple things in life? Caught up in the hustle and bustle of day to day living, beautiful and precious moments slip away forever. Be swept away in the imagery of this poem as we contemplate "The Simple Things."
When you stop for just a moment To turn your thoughts aside, And shed the cloak of narrow minds That greater treasures hides. You’ll notice then the simple things That once escaped your grasp. You’ll see so clear the wondrous hope Of present, future, past. Butterflies and daffodils. The water’s glistening light. Puppies' breath. Kitten’s fur. The eagle’s soaring height. Textures on your fingertips. Smells that thrill the mind. Feelings lost in busy hearts. Joys far cast by time. Wrinkled smiles below blue eyes. Children in the snow. A baby’s laugh. The summer breeze. Hugs that warm the soul. So many things we have nearby, Yet never take the time To closely look and value great What’s slowly passed us by. Take a moment. Slow your breath. Start to look around. Free your mind. Free your soul. Awaken to the sound… …of life.
