Until Now

just until a split second
before you closed your eyes
I was safe
the moment seemed to pass by all to quick
maybe I was ashamed
on the inside
it was as if you were lost
trying so hard not to be what
you thought
made you whole
only now things are worse
perhaps the lies only hurt
when they are told
I needed something to be real
for once in my life
but I got caught up
on all the dreams
you couldn't see
what I only wanted
it was always
let's pretend I fit the part
only when the end comes
I'd rather not be here
amidst all the pain
I find myself running
just like you
I always thought
I was so much better
but I never knew that up until now
how much we were the same

I like the way you build images without actually describe them and carry the emotions so well. I liked the way this one seemed to go from micro to macro, slowly moving outwards to the big picture.
