14: Bowling

After the first baseball game of the season with rival school Charleston High, Tom, Andrew, Kyle, Sarah, Richard and Savannah go bowling and Kyle receives adverse news.

Baseball Field: Bleachers

Spring sports being and the first baseball game of the season pit Lakeside vs. Charleston. The game approaches its end at the bottom of the ninth with the score tied at 36. Lakeside is last to bat.

Tom: Tied game. So how come we’ve never beat Charleston?

Andrew: I… don’t know.

Tom(smile): Eh? You’ve been here longer than I have.

Andrew: I’m only a freshman.

Tom(laugh): Your useleeess!

Andrew: That’s not nice.

Tom: The one day Mike and Marie aren’t here.

Andrew: Why are we here anyway?

Tom: Marie couldn’t come and told me to so that I could tell here every last detail later. And I didn’t want to come here by myself.

Kim: Hey.

Tim: We’re here too.

Tom: Oh sorry, kinda forgot for a second.

Kim: Well we can tell you why we always lose.

Tim: Whenever we played them before, we didn’t have Kyle.

Tom: Wow! So Kyle is really that good?

Baseball Field:

The game comes to a live or die situation for Lakeside. The bases are empty, Lakeside has two strikes and Kyle becomes the last player to bat.

The Charleston pitcher throws the ball two times and Kyle let’s them pass to the umpire.

Charleston Pitcher(mocking): What’s this? The great Kyle Princeton’s striking out?

Kyle remains silent with a confident face in batting position.

Charleston Pitcher: You won’t be so cocky when I whip that look off your face.

The Charleston pitcher pitches the hardest pitch he’s ever pitched. The ball comes in fast at Kyle. Kyle swings the bat and makes contact with the ball. The ball flies out over the in and out fields and over the fence giving Lakeside a homerun and a score of 37.

Kyle(smile): What was that about whipping a look off my face?

Sarah rushes over to congratulate Kyle.

Sarah(happy): I knew you’d win.

Kyle(happy): Was there any doubt?

Sarah kisses Kyle on the field.

Baseball Fields: Bleachers

Kim & Tim: You may want to leave out that last detail.

Andrew: Yeah. Good luck with that Tom.

Tom taps Andrew on the head.

Los Angeles: Lakeside

Tom and Andrew walk toward Tom’s house.

Tom: So what do you wanna do?

Andrew: I don’t know.

Tom(laugh): Come on, you always say that.

Kyle: Tom, Andy wait up.

Kyle, Sarah, Richard and Savannah come up from behind.

Tom: Hey what’s up?

Kyle: We’re going bowling over by Richie Highway. You guys wanna tag along.

Savannah: We’ve already got four people. Do we have to include them?

Richard: It’ll be fun. We can play teams, 3 on 3.

Sarah: Well I’m against it.

Kyle(sweet talk): Come on Sar, It’ll be fun. We can beat them, just the two of us.

Sarah(smile): Alright then. Only because you won the game today.

Kyle and Sarah continue towards the bowling alley.

Savannah: She gets sweet talked too easily.

Richard: So I guess you guys can come.

Tom(direct toward Andrew): You wanna go Andy?

Andrew: I guess.

Bowling Alley:

Tom, Andrew and Richard play as Team 2 while Kyle, Sarah and Savannah play as Team 1. Kyle becomes the first to go. Kyle bowls and gets a strike.

Kyle: Yes. Not bad for the first go.

Andrew: Challenging.

Tom: Esto será difícil(This will be difficult).

Andrew becomes the next bowler.

Tom: You bowl right Andy?

Andrew: Yeah.

Andrew bowls and knocks down 9 pins.

Sarah: Impressive.

Tom(applaud): Good job Andy.

Richard: It’s always the 5th pin.

Sarah bowls next. Sarah knocks over 9 pins.

Sarah: At least it’s not worse than the freshmen.

Richard bowls next. Richard makes a strike.

Kyle: Good job Richard.

Sarah(mad): Kyle he’s on the other team.

Kyle: I’m just showing good sportsmanship.

Savannah bowls next. Savannah knocks over 7 pins. Sarah and Savannah high-five crossing path.

Sarah: Not bad.

Savannah: Beat those freshmen.

Tom bowls last. Tom only knocks down 4 pins.

Sarah(laughing): Pathetic, HAHAHA!

Kyle: Whoa, tough luck there buddy.

Andrew(pat Tom on the shoulder/ slight laugh): You weren’t that bad.

Tom: You find that funny do you?

Andrew(holding back full laugh): Yes

The Crew enjoys the bowling montage with laughter and frustration along the way. The game comes about to the 10th round. Kyle finished his round with a score of 180. Tom and Kyle talk in the back while everyone else is focused on the game.

Tom: Well it looks like you guys beat us again. Like the time with Drake and the volleyball match.

Kyle: It looks like you guys still have a shot.

Tom: I guess. Say can I ask a question?

Kyle: What?

Tom: If you knew both Marie and Sarah back then. Why did you pick Sarah?

Kyle: Well it’s not because she is a freshmen and I am a sophomore. Being in the same classes with Sarah all these years has given me a chance to get to know her. And so I guess I picked Sarah.

Tom: When you got to know Sarah, you did find out she’s somewhat cold and ruthless right?

Kyle: Yeah I learned that the hard way.

Sarah waves to Kyle and Kyle waves back.

Kyle: So let me ask you a question.

Tom: Yeah.

Kyle: Your friend Drake. He’s gay right?

Tom(stutter): W-Why would you ask that?

Kyle: While he was here, Sarah and I noticed he was really interesting in Andy. Plus Darcy translated what he said to you about being his lover.

Tom: Oh, well if you know all that then I guess Drake won’t mind. Drake is gay but he’s still my best friend. You guys don’t mind, do you?

Kyle: No need to worry. Sarah and I are ok with it.

Tom: Thanks.

Richard(shout): Tom it’s your turn.

Kyle: So our team’s final is 475. Get a strike you guys win.

Tom(walking toward the lane): Great, so there’s no pressure.

Not paying attention, Tom bumps into a passing senior Rufus.

Tom(thinking): Hey haven’t I seen you somewhere before?

Tom thinks back to the first day and remembers seeing Rufus with Gavin.

Tom(scared): Your Gavin’s friend.

Rufus: Oh hey, it’s been a while. Don’t worry, Gavin’s not here.

Rufus looks at Tom for minute who stand still frightened.

Kyle(joining Tom and Rufus): Hey Rufus, what’s up?

Rufus: Sup Kyle. Can you tell me what’s up with the freshmen?

Kyle: Relax Tom, It’s only Rufus. He’s harmless.

Rufus: Is this about that incident? Don’t worry, I’m not like Gavin. He’s a hothead and I try to see the good in people.

Tom(calming down): So you’re not mad I bumped into you?

Rufus: Guaranteed.

Savannah(shout): What’s taking ya freshmen?

Rufus: Go on.

Tom continued to the lane.

Rufus: Wow, that first day really messed him up.

Kyle: No, I’d say he scares easily.

Rufus: I just wish I could have stopped Gavin prank.

Kyle: Prank?

Rufus: The one targeted at his quiet friend over there. For some reason Gavin gets really pissed off at that freshmen Tom.

Kyle: So the prank was targeted at Tom more than Andy.

Rufus: In a way. And great Game today.

Kyle: Thanks.

Tom bowls and is able to get a strike.

Tom(excited): I got a strike? That means our score is 480.

Andrew & Richard: We win!

Kyle(cheerful): HAHAHA, so they actually beat us.

Sarah & Savannah: No fair, rematch.
