These Stars Dont Last

These Stars Dont Last

A Poem by Joe Legg

Make me bleed,
make me feel pain.
Pop a needle in my vain.
This black rain,
eats my thoughts,
turning them into solid nothing.
I feel the sorrow of others
drenching my brain,
till I feel no more.
No pill strong enough
can kill these thoughts,
but I have not fought back.
It packs a punch,
leaving blood and scars.
These are the stars burning out
from the time they were bright,
so bright they did not fight.
Now it bites them in the night
struggling,
trying to cover up their pain,
they fail.
It's just too visible.
