The BeginningA Chapter by Faye
As a child I never fit in with the other kids. For some reason I was always considered to be different. I guess I should start with my parents. I don’t know much about them, all I know is that they were outcasts of their own home and moved far away in order to escape the troubles that haunted them during their stay there. I don’t know they’re names or what they even look like since they left me alone when I was born. I have no doubt they loved me though seeing as they deed leave me in the care of a wolf. She took care of me as if I were her own and raised me into whom, or what I am today. My name is Naenia. That’s it. I have no last name so please don’t ask for one. I was born with black hair which has slowly begun to turn white. My eyes are a pure blue while my skin is white as snow. I wish I had met my father and mother to know where I have gained these features from but for now I will just say I got them from my wolf mother whose fur is white. Being raised by a wolf, I have never had a proper introduction to other humans. When amongst other wolves I immediately stand out and some say that the wolves are taking me away in an attempt to kill me. Why can’t they see that they are apart of my family? I do remember trying to fit in with the humans once. They all looked at me strangely and whispered cruel sayings into each others ears. Finally, one had the nerve to approach me my grabbing me on the shoulder assuming that I had stolen something. I growled giving this stranger a warning to back off; I guess he didn’t get it. He takes my wrist this time and slams me against the wall. His shouts got louder and louder and he let off the scent of pure anger yet I couldn’t understand what he was saying. I couldn’t take it anymore; I pushed him off me by scratching him across the face. There was a crowd staring, eyes wide as I growled at the man, clawing at him. People then started grabbing things that my mother had warned me about these silver poles with holes at the end. I ran. I ran as fast as I could, hearing laughter, screams and cries behind me. I stared back at them, hating them. What fools, to think I was one of them. I returned home to find that their dark hands had stretched out past their limits and had killed the one that gave me life. The sad part of this tale is this would not be the last time I would have a run in with them. It was a mild fall day when I first noticed the posters flying around. On them was a strange looking character who they called “Doctor Rumandy Lockhart.” One the poster it stated: Ladies and Gentlemen of the general public! Having trouble with those annoying pests that refuse to go away? Have something threatening your way of life? Well no need to worry any longer! I, Doctor Rumandy Lockhart, Promise to take care of the Problem. Just bring the troubled misfortune to me and you will never have to see it again! I should have known that they would be coming after me. It never came to me that they would strike while I was sleeping. If there was a time when I gave credit to where it was due, it was to the humans. Even though their plan was simple, it worked. They managed to catch me with ropes. I put up a strong fight until I felt something sharp hit me in my right arm. Everything began to get blurry as I could see the ground beginning to approach me. The rest is just a faint blur. All I know is that I could hear a strange mans voice: “She acts like a wolf you say? Well, in my add I wasn’t talking about humans…she doesn’t consider herself to be one? How interesting, yes…yes I’ll take her.” © 2009 Faye |
