The Lying Truth

The Lying Truth

A Poem by Shadoe
"

i wrote this a few years ago, and it was published in a poetry collection called "Songs of Honour" (yes, it's totally one of those junkmail things that ask you to send a poem and then buy the book...)

"

This we hold

True to ourselves,

The lies we all believe.

But somewhere hidden in this darkness,

Lies aren't what we seek.

Somewhere hidden in time and space

A box of old things dear,

But something here is odd.

It's something we all hold

deep inside ourselves.

Truth is what we dream of.

Lies are all we speak.

Somewhere here we know

The lies begin to show.

A world so cold,

Hurt so easily seen.

No on knows,

Just where the truth has gone.

This we hold true

Only to ourselves,

The Lies we all believe,

But somewhere hidden in these shadows,

The truth will be set free.

Wow, this was so powerful and would probably sound amazing when read outloud! I really loved it. =) Particularly the opening lines "This we hold / True to ourselves, / The lies we all believe." What an intense way to start off the poem! Great job with this! ^___^
