A Heart Worth Saving

A Heart Worth Saving

A Poem by Darian B.
"

Nothing's too broken...

"
Open your eyes.
Open your eyes and take a look at the world
See the color in the skies, and the trees, and the beauty of life.
--It's not as dark as you pictured it.

Open your ears.
Open your ears and listen to the sounds around you
Hear the birds chirp their happy song and the wind move freely.
--It's not as eerie as you imagined it.

Open your hands.
Open your hands and feel the warmth of living
Run your fingers through the blades of grass as the summer breeze gently brushes your face.
--It's not as cold as you remembered it.

Now open your mind...
Open your mind and let me in, let me ease your burden
Let me calm your troubled heart
And show you a world.
Show you a world that is not so filled with pain and grief
That is not so broken and helpless,
--That it cannot be saved...
Everything can be saved as long as it's worth saving,
---So let me start with your heart.

I know it's been broken for quite awhile.
I know it's been wounded so many times
That you think it better to throw it away,
--Than to try and repair the damage.
But I know otherwise..
I see a heart so precious, so beautiful
That I gave up my own
--To start working on yours.
I see a person so magnificent, so spectacular
That I no longer care to live
--If you're not there with me.
I see an angel who was wounded.
--Wounded by the very souls who claimed to love her
And was thrown to the wolves to fend for herself.
--But I will be your guardian,
If you let me.

I could show you a world
A world of beauty and bliss.
A world of peace and love.
A world where you don't always have to look over your shoulder,
--wondering who will hurt you next.
Yes, I could show you that world.

But first you would have to see me.

This is such a sweet piece. I love the way it begins with opening eyes and then hands. What a lovely progression that leads perfectly into the idea of an open heart. The tone and voice you have put into the piece is absolutely perfect. Thank you for sharing. I love your writing style. I love that, when you reach the idea of opening the heart, the poem has a clear shift which includes the structure change as well. I think that is very fitting and very well done. Great job!

This is beyond beautiful. I think anyone who has ever been so broken couldn't help but soften just a little bit reading this. I don't quite have the words to review this, but it was so very very touching.

I think I'll be keeping this to read on the darker days when you need the reminder that people are out there reaching out.

That's quite beautiful. There are so many broken hearts that never receive love and support like this.
This is a rare devoted lover, waiting to save the day. I like it. It appeals to my romantic heart.

Beautifully captured Darian. Sometimes we forget that there is light because of the many shadows that have been left from our past, but all it takes is the one moment and the one person to show that as you so elegantly said, there is more light and beauty around us than we ever thought possible, if only we let ourselves see it. Only then, can we truly lift the weights from a heavy heart and see and feel that there is more to living than just existence.
Superbly crafted my friend.

Love can save a person
From self destruction
Sometimes when things go dark
Its easy to hurt your ownself

Until someone comes along and stops it from happening

I truly felt every single word

So much beauty in this piece .... i hope it reaches many people
So many people need this kind of light

Thank you for sharing !!!

Reading through the titles of your poems, I stumbled across this one and immediately knew that this was the one I had to read. It brings back bittersweet emotions, but what is a poem without someone connecting to it? You do write well.
