A Friend I wouldn't Mind Meeting Again

A Friend I wouldn't Mind Meeting Again

A Poem by wolfie

Death touches my pen
Reminds me why I always think of him
He never comes to me like a silent or violent decree
He welcomes me in open arms
Embodied by kindness and charm

We often sit across each other
Drinking aromatic tea
We dive into conversations and pleasantries

In the room of thought
He offers me advice
Just a dash of sugar to make a day nice
He holds my hand in his
Everyone I love overlaps then
The person across from me,
an embodiment of all the loves I knew

He's a silent whisper to my every day of screams
A cold touch to every scorching fight
He's the warm hug after a freezing shower
A dream to my every night of fright

Death touches my pen
Reminds me why I always think of him
He never comes as depicted in stories
He welcomes me with a word I've never heard before...
And it's like I've come across once again,
everyone I've ever loved
He brings to me all I would have missed
Just so I can be at ease
every time I meet him

This one sounds like the warm and fuzzy version of Ingmar Bergman's "The Seventh Seal." The speaker relates to death not as a grim reaper, but as an ever present friend with whom he sips aromatic tea. He makes death sound so cuddly you almost want to meet him yourself. Probably not a good plan. Remember, the guy tends to be possessive.
