Life AddictionA Poem by wolfie
She lived life behind a smoke veil
Breathing wisps down her throat Burning the herbs and her lungs The scent of roses flooding her thoughts Invading early mornings and sunsets She lived life with two fingers up in a peace sign But peace wasn't what she signified Occasionally, one finger came down Anyone can guess which one stayed up She lived life with ashes dwelling in her body While drenched in winter rain Sometimes the menthol was followed up by harsh drinks But it kept the monsters in bay She lived life under a pseudo name Given by the society she was forced to remain Loser, or bum was reoccurring They didn't see the fire that ran in her veins She lived life with a toxin on her tongue It only emphasized the truth behind her words All the liquor kept on the shelf All the different types of rum Were labeled after all the people who couldn't keep to themselves She lived life drowning cigarette butts It was second nature learning to extinguish flames To learn to shut down toxic people To shoot down broken records She lived life where cigarettes were more than cigarettes in a poem Words were more than words in a poem Where smokes, herbs, and ashes... were actions, speeches, and consequences In a world where she had to burn herself down Just to rise up for beliefs they couldn't accept... She lived life the only way she could Smoke from beginning to end Light heat, but darling How many souls she sent to bed.... How many addicts sent to heaven...
