Goodbyes are overrated, but you never were

Goodbyes are overrated, but you never were

A Poem by wolfie

Goodbyes are overrated,
people make so much drama,
but when it comes down to it they are already out the door.

There are no kisses, no hugs, no letters, no messages;
the clothes in the closet are gone,
but the memories aren't the only thing lingering.

No text, no phone call, yet they are still on all the social apps,
with big black bold letters 'Friends',
"What are they playing at?"

If I could I would take surgery,
split up my skull,
cut all the nerves one by one so the pain fades.

Time heals wounds,
and yes, that might be true,
but it's so much harder to forget than it is to heal.

The fact of the matter never changes,
they were there then they are gone,
never thinking that they are still yanking on my chains.

You might be gone,
but the fact never changes,
you were there;
these bonds aren't so easily cut.

Goodbyes are overrated,
no need for drama,
no need for fuss.

It's just too bad you couldn't take all these bruises and scars out the door with you,
along with all those purses and golden earrings that I bought for you.
