The Age of Theater

The Age of Theater

A Poem by wolfie

It's time to go on stage,
superficial smiles in place...
Hesitant to take the first step,
ready for the grande leap,
join the audience cheer,
genuine heart and tears!
Brightest diamond in the dark,
more luck than any leprechaun,
elegant grace and divine beauty!
Such a shame the end grows near,
the thought to halt brings fear.
The ends of the clock tick,
your body gradually becomes colder.
Trembling hands with lead on your shoulders,
blisters on your feet with every turn;
the lights go dim and mirror play,
creases on a once-beautiful doll.
The cheers become silent with dread,
by the last hop you've tripped,
no loner will your knees hold,
sobbing over lost of youth.
The red curtains slowly lower,
the audience are leaving,
all alone now in the dark,
candle burning out,
breath escaping with every cry.
You lay alone,
the star has died...
