Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by wolfie

I used to wonder why people wait.

Life keeps on going,

it's a train in an extremely long tunnel,

there are no stops, no breaks,

you're barely holding on as you witness the world spinning out of control away from you.

To wait is to allow a moment when the thought process exceeds it's boundaries,

to let your mind run wild causing paranoia and doubt,

so why wait when it causes great anguish...

the fear of the unknowing yet inevitable truth,

every second trickling through your fingers,

until I realized why people wait,

yes it creates affliction within,

stirs the cynicism in the core of your heart,

but the wait can also bring about certain strengths that could not be attained in any other way,

just as faith is stronger after disbelief,

just as knowledge becomes greater with everyday things,

and love is lit brighter after you've been burned by it,

once the wait is over,

you realize your no worse for it,

and that silly nightmare you expected was vanquished by that moment,

the moment in all those other thoughts of uncertainty when you said;

"Maybe it might not be so bad..." or "We might make it through..."
