For your Protection

For your Protection

A Poem by wolfie

I sit, huddled,

knees to my chest and my chin down,

by dawn my smile returns,

by night, my smile becomes a crescent,

corners pointed down,

I go on, live life,

I laugh, I sing, I dance,

I go on, collapsing in the arms of friends,

grinning by the side of family,

holding the world is more difficult,

the small world in my life,

in my palms it shakes and roars,

It speaks it's mind,

by the time I rest,

I'm trembling, unsure of what has occurred,

it's hard molding a pretty little mask,

a reflection in the glass,

It's hard keeping appearances,

telling everyone it's alright,

but I do what must be done,

to keep on smiling,

with my heart behind an ice cage,

my sadness converted to life-support,

and a world revolving in my mind,

with everything I know in my protection
