The Fall in Time

The Fall in Time

A Poem by wolfie

Annual Fall,

Feathers of trees,

Swaying in gentle breeze,

Nostalgia reflected in a transparent pool of memories.

Over the cliff,

a pond of melancholy tears,

mountains swelling in 'what if's'

one last bubble rising to the river's surface,

Freezing a millimeter per minute.

Unable to touch the sky,

Pressed down into the mud at the bottom of the pond,

every breath slowing with the beating of the heart,

haunted by the persistence of time.

Clinging to the ultimate smile,

waiting for the thaw,

for the day when sunshine steams from above,

an interlude for the tenacious.
