In the Measure of a Second

In the Measure of a Second

A Poem by Cymery Naomi Martell
"

Writing in my writing prompts journal and I rather liked the way this turned out.

"
Close your eyes. Count to one.
Now open them.
Do you have any conception of the immeasurable number of things that happened in the instant that your eyes were closed?
All manner of critical, trivial, natural, meaningful, ponderous, insignificant, and magical things happened.
A myriad of people died. Many others were born. Kisses and blows were exchanged. Kittens meowed. Microwaves dinged. Emails were sent. Letters were wrote, read, delivered, and opened. Tears were cried. Laughter rang. Waves crashed. Books were started. Books were finished. Rain drops fell. Winds blew. The sun shined. Children played. Coffee pots were filling. Cars honked. Someone arrived. Someone just left. Food was ordered, eaten, thrown up, and craved. Chemicals reacted. New papers printed. Stars exploded.
Back to back to back... forever is happening.
In this way eternity can be viewed in a second...
but it would take an eternity to view that second.

Welcome to WritersCafe.

Liked the poem. Much to think about. Another reason to feel guilty about procrastination. Thanks.

Keep writing.
