Sunshine In My Window

Sunshine In My Window

A Poem by Sabrina

As I lay in bed
Wanting just a few more
Precious moments of sleep
The sunshine floats in
Through the window
The sun in my eyes
Stops the sleep from coming
I finally give in and awaken
Making myself some coffee
Another day, half asleep
I feel like a zombie

Thank you!
The title of the poem is kinda deceiving (not in a bad way!) because the words "Sunshine in my window" make it sound like the poem is going to be nice and happy when in reality the poem is describing the harshness of waking up in the morning! I like it and can so relate.

This has great imagery. More punctuation would be helpfull. Haha. I had to read it twice. Thanks for sharing.

Yes! We are in so much agreement. Your poems have been so meaningful lately. Coffee, the average writers favorite drink. I feel like a zombie too!
