Cheating? or Cranky?

Cheating? or Cranky?

A Poem by desertraven

Cheating? Or Cranky?

Red flags waving

alarms sound in my head

Is he cheating?

Or simply, tired instead ?

The look in his eyes

void of emotion

he’s so far away

as I drown in this ocean

I try to engage in

simple conversation

In return, a look

of emotional constipation

Stewing in anger

I begin to shout,

"Sometimes it helps

to just open your mouth!"

Long, hard hours at

a job he just hates

making it difficult

to be a good mate

I readily accept his answer

I’ll take what I can

For he is nothing more

than a cranky, old man.

awwww.... I LOVE this piece. Wonderful word-smithery here and a perfect flow. Gosh, you've really hit the nail on the head on this topic. Our minds.... you'd think they were designed to assist us... but mostly they get in our way, don't they? lol
This poem also reminds me of myself and my man in ways. I'm the one in the job I hate... and we're both damn cranky! lol
An excellent piece, I truly adore it!!!

A man in a job he hates is a miserable partner indeed. I have had one of these. Some men just can't talk about their feelings. Which is really frustrating. They are just weird creatures. Anyway this was well written.

Ha, reminds me of my friend Samantha and how she always thinks her boyfriend's cheating on her. I keep having to reassure her that her boyfriend's kinda creepy and doesn't have good social skills, therefore she' s the best thing in his life, of course he won't cheat on her. Anyways, nice flowing meter and amusing look at how society degenerates are men into cranky old b******s like myself. It seems everyone wants to BE ME.
