Desert of my Heart

Desert of my Heart

A Poem by desertraven

The Desert of My Heart

The heat rising

is stifling.

Nothing grows here

except

discontent

and resentment

of a love that once was...

Blooming

moving

all consuming...

Now the winds of passion

are painfully still...

Haunting

daunting

memories lie dead in the sand,

deteriorating with time.

Like the needles on a cactus

piercing the love that once

enveloped us...

Time, rips my hopes apart

like a vulture pecking

at my heart

looking back now,

I wish I had been smart

and let you walk away...

I feel the sadness and discontent of someone who allowed themselves to stay in a love that was robbing them of life and who they were... Extremely well done.

Sandra-there is something about the form that captivates me
this is very well written and expresses
the making of a broken heart with immense detail
Loved the vision-thanks for sharing
