A child who has been left behind, who no one cares about.

A young child
too young to understand
what was going on

she was dressed in rags
from head to toe
they were gray from the dust

she ran up the street
and back down
she was crying
begging
begging for help

nobody noticed
nobody cared
it wouldn't make a difference
if she wasn't there
