Chapter 3: A sticky situation

Edward has gone hunting, I'm alone with Emma, and there's a new girl at school... is it possaible something is gonna happen?

    I chewed on my pencil as hard as I could; it’s hard not having Edward with me. But since his eyes were really dark, I had to let him go… I couldn’t let him be tortured by his thirst because I love him, which would be selfish. I tried to listen to Mr. Banner but I couldn’t concentrate without Edward beside me. Emma was still here though, since she went hunting with Jasper six days ago, she took Edward’s seat beside me. I guess Emma noticed I was acting a little strange today because when I looked down I saw a note.

Bella, Are you ok? I’m not sure that I’ve seen you like this before. Is something wrong?

I smiled at her beautiful handwriting, I really wanted to just tell her what was bothering me, but I really don’t want Emma to think that I’m too needy. Rosalie and Emma get along, so Emma is kind of torn between us, If I do anything out of her favor, I’m afraid I may lose her.

Nothing is wrong… just a little bored.

I studied Emma expression as she read, I knew she wouldn’t just take my excuse and let it be, she’d ask questions, and I’d have to lie. Edward has told before that I’m a bad liar, and I hate lying to people I care about, and since Emma Hale is apart of the family I will be apart of someday, it bothers me even more.

Bella, Your chewing your pencil like it’s a piece of meat, either something is bothering you, or you not eating enough!

I sighed. Emma seems so on her game. I suck at lying, so the chances that I can out smart her are so slim that they’re invisible. Emma has been around before my great grandmother was even conceived; surely she can pick up on a lying human. Plus, her eyes transformed when she became a vampire, she could see any signs of me lying very clearly.

Emma, I’m just out of it today. I’m not used to Mr. Banner standing so far away from my and Edward’s Desk

Emma read my note and turned her head, had she realized what this whole thing was about, and was she about to hate me for lying? I winced at the idea of another Cullen hating me. It seems so unfair that Rosalie hates me for reasons that are unclear to me, now Emma will hate me for reasons that I brought on myself. I took the note back.

Oh Bella, I see what is going on in that little human head of yours. You miss my brother don’t you?

I took a moment to process those words, then I wrote my reply.

Yes, I miss Edward. But Emma please tell me you don’t hate me… I didn’t want you to take this all the wrong way…

Emma smiled, was this humoring her? I miss her brother to death and I’m afraid that she hates me for lying to her, and she’s laughing? I sighed and grabbed the note again, I was afraid to read what she wrote. I was afraid to see the three words that may utterly crush me. I sighed and unfolded the paper to see what emma had written..

Your truely funny Bella. Hate is something that is hard to come by when you've lived 58 yrs over your due date to die. Plus you Edward's dear BELLA! !! I don't hate you, and it's funny that you miss him so badly, because he is probably being the same way with Emmett at this very moment.

 

I looked at the paper with disbelief, I had to look three times before I was sure those were the words that were really on the paper. I looked up at Emma and she had a beautiful smile painted on her perfect face. I thought about what she had written, about Edward missing me as much as I miss him, I felt my cheeks turn hot. "Emma, Edward... he won't be gone for longer then two days, right?" I looked up at emma, my eyes pleding for an answer. Emma let out an angelic giggle and in return I sent out a giggle that had made Mike Newton's head turn in an instent. Mike smiled at me and I waved, he turned back around and I looked back at Emma. " Please, will he be back soon?" I asked agian this time I tried to hide the fact that I may be despriate. Emma nodded her head.sarcastically . I was still flushed from all embarrassed the eyes that were still staring at me. I was quite until I heard emma whisper ' That's Mrs. Hale you Jerk' and a giggle escaped my throat.

" Yes Bella, Edward, along with Emmet, will be back before tomarrow evening." She said, her bell like voice echoing in the now quite room. Emma just smiled at everyone else in the classroom, of course I blushed. Mr. Banner looked at me, only me, and sighed.

" Miss. Swan, do you have a finale statement for our discution? I'm sure you and Miss. Hale have been paying attention." He said

" Miss. Swan do I have to remind you that the penility in Japan for speaking aloud as a student is immediat removal, and a swipe with a bambu resin, here the only punishment is detention... take your pick Miss. Swan." Mr. Banner exclaimed and I heard Mike Newton murmer something, I wasn't quite sure excatly was he said but I think it was around the lines of " Damn Arizona is bringing the heat back to forks!" I blushed agian, this time because of mike's stupidity with his words.

" Mr. Banner, I was simply discussing a branch-off of your main disscution with Bella. She was having a hard time grasping the concept of the French revolution and I wanted to make sure she truly could learn in the best way possiable." Emma said with a smile. " After all, Mr.Banner, it was you who told our class to do whatever it takes to succeed!" Emma finished and smiled at me. I was amazed by how smoothly she'd lied to the teacher, then agian I should be use to it by now.

" Very well, Miss. Swan you will be learning the remander of this lesson with me , no detention is nessisary." He said looking at Emma returning her smile. I shuddered at the way he looked at her, and he snapped out of her charming grip.

 

I was sitting with Emma at lunch, she seemed too busy with Jasper to talk to me, I didn't mind. I motioned over to Jessica and Mike, Jess was with a new girl I've never seen before. I smiled at her and looked up at Jessica for an answer.

" Bella, this is Mary. She's from Ohio, and she's new." Jess said faking a smile. I was glad that Mike has found a new Fixation, it'd make everything way easier. I held out my hand to the new girl Mary.

" Hi, I'm Bella Swan. It's nice..." I only made it half way throught my sentance when Emma interupted.

" I'm Emma Hale, This is Hubby,er... my boyfriend! Jasper, say hello." Emma smiled to the new girl then at jasper. Jasper looked unsure for a second, and the pain that is always present in his eyes was more distinct. He looked at me and I looked down as quickly as I could, it was so hard to make eye-contact with him. I smiled at Mary once agian and then realized that Jasper was thirsty, I gasped aloud and looked at Emma. Emma turned her head and looked at me with a sure look, as if to tell me Jasper is under control. I stood up and walked over to Mary, I thought I'd take some of the extra temptation out of his way.

" Mary, why don't you come with me for a sec, I wanna interduce you to someone... er, Connor!" I exclaimed trying to hide the fact that the only Connor I knew was a complete and utter idiot.

" Er, Ok. It's nice that we're already friends." She said smiling. I took her hand and lead her away from Jasper's lunch table. I looked lead her over to the table where connor was sitting with some of the other idiots like him, Mike Newton had rushed to join them when he heard I was taking Mary to meet Connor, he must still have a thing for me aswell as a thing for Mary. We got to Connor's table and Mike looked down quickly to hide the fact that he was staring, Connor gave me a strange look.

" Connor, this Mary... she's new! Uhhh... I wasn't sure if you'd met her, so here she is." I said trying to be nice. Connor looked at Mary and smiled, he stood up and came beside me.

" Is she for Mike?" he asked with a stupid grin on his face. I frowned and looked at Mary, she shook her head. I looked back at Connor and shook my head. " Well, Arizona, I call dibs on you!" He said still grining. Then he pretended to walk away, then came back up to me and smacked my a*s, I gasped.

" What... The... Hell... Was... That?" I said in disbelief, looking at Mary. " I-I-I- can't even imagine, oh, my god what will Edward do?Edward!!" I yelled looking back at Emma, who had seen the whole thing. I wanted to punch Connor in his head, this was a huge mistake for him to make, if Edward got violent it'd be the end of him. " Connor, you'd better not even think of doing that agian! If I where you I wouldn't even think about what you just did." I yelled agian directly at connor, if Edward heard him thinking about this, well... it wouldn't be a good situation for any of those involved.

" What's the matter Arizona? Your boyfriend gonna be mad at you?" he said mockingly, I flushed as I thought about what Edward could do to him, his anger has almost been lost on Mike many times before, and then agian Mike has never grabbed my a*s before.

" Mary, we need to leave right now...!! " I Turned to Emma's table to signal Emma over, and there was now another body in the seat where I'd been sitting, Edward had returned. " oh, holy crow!!!" I yelled at Mary and grabbed her arm, " Connor's life is in my hands!!". Mary looked puzzled but didn't ask questions, we had to leave, things would get ugly quickly if we didn't.
