Everyone Needs A Stepping Stool

This is the unwritten rule
Everyone needs a stepping stool
To raise themselves up higher

Even a stepping stool
Needs a lesser tool
To make its screws feel tighter

But what if stepping stools
Decided to break the rules
Refusing to be stepped upon anymore?

What if the lesser tools
Loosened all the screws
Sending the world crashing to the floor?

Would we ask for a helping hand?
Would we rush to find a comfortable seat?
Or would we learn to stand tall,
On our own two feet?

I painted a room last week.. thank goodness my trusty stepping stool stayed strong, in return I cleaned the splatters upon my trusty stepping stool. I know that wasn't the kind you were talking about.
Your piece gives much to think about..it applies to many instances in life. I don't see the tools as lesser, but as an equal to the whole...which is team work, yes? Though we should stand on our own too ( :
