We Put You in a BoxA Poem by Sirius KingWe Put You in a BoxWe Put You in a Box We put you in a box And that’s where you need to stay Who the hell do you think you are? …Trying to escape
We put you on a pedestal To watch you stand tall Then pulled it right from under you To witness the great fall
We shoved you in the closet Dressed in despair and doubt Then, in the name of Jesus We crucified you for coming out
We embraced you with open arms Promised we’d be friends for life But as soon as you weren’t looking In your back, we placed a knife
We offered you a lifeline When you really needed help We gave you enough rope Just to hang yourself
We put you in a box And buried it 6 feet deep Then dug you back up So the process could repeat
