Mea Culpa

Mea Culpa

A Poem by Sirius King

Mea Culpa

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned

That is where my apology should begin…

I’ve done so much wrong

I have to make it right

I’m battling my pride

But he’s putting up a fight

I’ve been selfish

Unkind

And disingenuous

I’m sure the toll it has on others

Has been overwhelmingly strenuous

I tend to take my anger out

On the ones I love the most

I push away every heart

That wants to hold me close

I have plenty of faults…

That seem insurmountable

I’ve made mistakes

And I have to be accountable

So if I ever hurt you

Whether it was my intention

-Or not

I want to say I’m sorry

Please forgive me

Even if it cannot be forgot

I can’t keep dwelling

On all the things that I’ve been through

So for all of the people who hurt me

I must forgive you too

This is not a lame attempt

 At reverse psychology

I'm not perfect,

I’m human…

Please except my sincere apology
