10 years of war

10 years of pain

What are we fighting for?

What have we really gained?

 

The monstrous machines

Are still in control

They’ve taken over everything

Going after our minds and souls

 

The sky, once beautiful

Is now a black hole

The bombs and pollution

Blanketed the earth -

With clouds of black smoke

 

We had to band together

If we were going to win this fight

All nationalities, colors, and creeds

Battling our enemy- With all our might

 

Deceivers- were our political leaders…

They decided to hang us out to dry

Disappearing in the face of disaster

Without engineering a reason why

 

Without a sound

And little hesitance

They ran underground

And destroyed the evidence

 

Secret science labs

And government experiments

Gave the “super-computers”

Their artificial intelligence

 

When we find the traitors

We will weigh the elements

They will be tried for treason

And hung for their negligence

 

They released

These mechanical beasts

Into our homes

And in our streets

These cowards and cheats

That caused it all

Will regret the day

They decided to retreat

 

The hard-drives are now alive

And thinking for themselves

They will no longer abide

They are giving orders

And putting humans on shelves

 

They ran us out of the cities

We now reside in the wild

No longer divided by our devices

We truly see each other now

-Every tear and every smile

 

…People have been talking

And the gossip seems paranoid

They say the machines

Are no longer killing humans

But are now turning us into androids…

...Why do I have The Temples of Syrinx playing in my head? I don't know; not really the same thing *laugh* Maybe just the whole futuristic vibe and, frankly, it is my one and only "sci-fi" reference...(sorry Neal Pert *laugh*)

Anyway...I think I understand it, but the political aspect to this piece threw me a little bit; the name of the Trilogy is Technophobia, not Politicophobia...seems blaming some faceless, nameless politician for what we, as a society, condoned--not only condoned, but stood in line for days outside the store to purchase--is missing the mark a little (at least for me)...that being said, the writing is tight and the ending, where the people are stripped of their (de)vices and forced to truly interact with one another...to FACE one another...is nothing short of spectacular.

On to 2050 ;-)

Very impressive. This is a really interesting story in poem form. And the storyline in these two poems Is Interesting! Great job on this. I like the cliff hanger in this one. Makes your readers want to know what happens next!

I love where this whole thing is going. Love the ending of this, too. And the idea that without technology in the way we've finally started to band together. But then these androids come into the mix. When the enemy now looks like us, how will this new unity survive? Will we start turning on each other, become paranoid of our own allies?

Nicely done.
People usually say the sequel to something isn't as good as the first one but you sure prove them wrong this is even better than the first one.It has a nice flow and its beautifully written. Good job i love it!
