Negative NancyA Poem by Sirius Kingrough draftNegative Nancy (Poem by Serenus)
Negative Nancy and I Once had an encounter We met through her best friend Her name was Debbie Downer
It was their teacher Miss Misery That taught them both- When entertaining company You have to know how to host
So, into their circle -They invited me And I accepted the invitation -With naivety
Every time they were around I found myself feeling down Every suggestion I had -Was picked a part, and met with An unforgiving frown
I knew that this Depressing cycle had to end So I went on a search For new friends
I finally found a few good ones And they brought my mind some peace But Negative Nancy didn’t like it So that’s when she confronted me
She said… She didn’t like "That I was holding hands With Positive Pam" And she warned me "Don’t be seduced By Supportive Suzanne"
She left me confused… Who was she To tell me What to do?
Then I began to realize Nancy’s sinister plan She wanted me for herself And no one else stood a chance
She drew a line in the sand She told me that "I had to choose" I said “Nancy, I’m not your man” She looked shocked, like this was news
I told her "maybe if she wasn’t so busy Putting other people down She would probably be happy And have uplifting friends That would stick around"
I told her, "she’s not the one for me And that is very true…" She said, she "refuses to change her ways" And she’s "comfortable with her negative view"
I said" OK, that’s fine But with that attitude You will forever be alone... Just take a
good look around Even Debbie Downer is gone…"
