Black Reign

(Poem by Serenus)

When black reigns

Does that erase black pain?

Do we shed black shame?

Or is black okay with staying the same?

Not even trying to change

Strange

When black clouds

Release black rain

Proud

Because they thought

It would destroy

Not help to spring new life again

A black fist to a black sky

For all of those who

Struggled hustled and died

Black churches, and black mothers

Who sang , prayed, and cried

And all of the others

Who fought on the right side

Since the days that black slaves

Escaped from black chains

Changing the nation by branding it

With our black style and black names

America never had a choice

But to never be the same

Forever changed

Because of this regal right we found

We took back our black crowns

So I ask - what will they do now

That we’re spreading

This new black power around?

I was moved by this poem. I love the message. Every now and again I write about race and the problems we face with it. I think that the pain of it should not be ignored. If we discuss race we put our problems on the table for everyone to see. Too often Americans try to ignore it as a "old-hat" issue. It is not and the problem with it still exists today. I appreciate well thought out poems like this because they offer that look at the problem. Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of art.

"Let no man pull you low enough to hate Him" Dr Martin Luther king. Perhaps "BLACK PRINCE" could learn something from possibly the greatest man in black history so far.

WELL DONE BROTHER.

We Black people are a strong, beautiful, powerful, blessed, creative race.
And we don't really care what whites think.
White people are devils. Real Talk.
We do not need anybody's approval to be who we are as Black/African people.
We have to live on our own terms.
We don't have to kiss white people' a*s in order to fit in.
White people never liked us and they will never like us.
Therefore it is time we truly learn to live Black, love Black, accept Black
Support Black, forgive Black, marry Black( Black man and woman couple ).
We must learn to strictly preserve our Black genes, by marrying our Black women.

I like the description and story in the poem. I was raised in Detroit. I saw Martin Luther King in Detroit as a little boy. I tell all kids. Many had died for you to be free. Be proud of who you are and never allow any person to look down at you. My father (A Ojibwa/Mexican) killed a man for someone trying to tell him he was worthless. Your poem is true. The black people come from people of honor and strength. All races need to learn. Respect and love. Thank you for the thoughts and the outstanding poetry.
