Is Heaven Truly Heaven…?

Some say it’s a sin to question God

But didn’t He give us a brain?

I feel the more questions you ask

The more wisdom you gain

 

Like…

 Why was I created?

Why is there hatred?

Why is there evil at all?

 

Am I making the right decisions?

Did I choose the right religion?

When I fall, will you answer my call?

 

Believe me when I say

I hope to get to Heaven one day

So I must ask….

I’m compelled …So please tell

…Is Heaven truly Heaven

If your loved ones

Are sent to Hell?

 

I know you gave them free will

And they’ve made their own decisions

But Heaven without my family and friends

I just cannot envision  

 

There is no doubt in my mind

I couldn’t, and shouldn't be fine

With sitting on cloud nine

Peacefully living out my heart’s desires …

 

Without being concerned

with demons taking their turns

Drowning my family, showered in burns

Doused in hottest of hell's fires….

 

That doesn’t sound like Heaven to me

If I said different, I would be a liar

How could I be content in knowing

That this torture has transpired?

 

Father,

  You are the only one

With the answer to our fate

So I’m going to wait

To hear what you have to say

And while I wait

I’ll continue to pray

That every soul finds their way

...Into Heaven’s gates

I like your thoughts. Some say that at each stage what we believe about God is what defines the current boundaries of our understanding, and that it is the courage to question which breaks through these limits to reach a greater wisdom. In breaking through we move nearer to the reality of what God is: love :)
