TO BARELY GET BY
LIVING FROM PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK

- I HAVE TO ASK …WHY?
…WHY DID THOSE DREAMS WE HAD AS KIDS

JUST WITHER AWAY AND DIE?
ASPIRING TO BE ACTORS,

WRITERS,

AND SINGERS

IN OUR YOUTH
BUT AS ADULTS

WE GIVE OURSELVES EXCUSES

TO WATER DOWN THE TRUTH
“IVE GOT TROUBLES,

IVE GOT KIDS,

IVE GOT BILLS…”
NEVER KNEW LIFE COULD CUT SO DEEP,

AND LEAVE WOUNDS SO REAL…
…AND HOW DO WE DEAL?...
BY GOING TO A MEANINGLESS JOB
BEING ROBBED OF OUR CREATIVITY
HUMANITY
SUCKED INTO THE CORPORATE MACHINE
TURNING YOUR SOUL

AN ENVIOUS SHADE OF GREEN
STAMPED WITH DEAD PRESIDENTS
BEING DRAINED OF ALL YOUR DREAMS…
NOW YOU’RE JUST A PRODUCT
TO BE BOUGHT AND SOLD
DAILY
ON A SHELF

everyone can relate to having "unfinished business", this feeling can stop us in our tracks or give us the energy we need to keep moving

Ho-ly s**t.

This is EXACTLY how I think and feel about life!
Its really sad and frustrating how most of us go through our whole life never living the dreams we had in our youth, though there are lucky ones who we either envy or admire.

I hate to say it but usually we get sidetracked and pressured by society to be productive human beings, and we make up excuses or blame the economy for giving up the pursuit to have the glamourous rockstar life or flamboyant actress/artist, settling down for the mundane life...working at the ever so "professional" desk job-- how nice.

Of course there are other things that make it seem impossible to pursue one's dreams and make a reality, but it should be noted, the famous cliched saying: Put your mind to it and you're guaranteed to succeed...or whatever xD

I bet if we were visited by our Past-kid selves they would be kicking our asses and screaming, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" (yes, I got that idea/scenario from an Adam Sandler movie, lol)


Anyway, AWESOME write! Got me thinking and ranting xD lol

The poem tell a real story. When I was a kid. World support be a utopia of peace and less work. Today we work as hard as our poor parent. Big business took over and are draining the common man to his last hope. I wish I knew the answer. I believe we need less government and more opportunity. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.
