THAT REFUSE TO BE DENIED
WE BREAK OUR BACKS, DAILY,
TO BARELY GET BY
LIVING FROM PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK
- I HAVE TO ASK …WHY?
…WHY DID THOSE DREAMS WE HAD AS KIDS
JUST WITHER AWAY AND DIE?
ASPIRING TO BE ACTORS,
WRITERS,
AND SINGERS
IN OUR YOUTH
BUT AS ADULTS
WE GIVE OURSELVES EXCUSES
TO WATER DOWN THE TRUTH
“IVE GOT TROUBLES,
IVE GOT KIDS,
IVE GOT BILLS…”
NEVER KNEW LIFE COULD CUT SO DEEP,
AND LEAVE WOUNDS SO REAL…
…AND HOW DO WE DEAL?...
BY GOING TO A MEANINGLESS JOB
BEING ROBBED OF OUR CREATIVITY
HUMANITY
SUCKED INTO THE CORPORATE MACHINE
TURNING YOUR SOUL
AN ENVIOUS SHADE OF GREEN
STAMPED WITH DEAD PRESIDENTS
BEING DRAINED OF ALL YOUR DREAMS…
NOW YOU’RE JUST A PRODUCT
TO BE BOUGHT AND SOLD
DAILY
ON A SHELF
Absolutly magnificant, artistic, well crafted, full of meaning, great flow, overflowing with honesty and anyone who cannot connect with this needs help. First ever peice in this comp to get perfect tens across the board. Superb!
excellent, really nicely constructed and thought provoking insights, reminds us how we need to sift through each daily troubling endevour to reach a non-corporationist position of creativity

Hmmmm....
Money is neither good or evil, it is simply a tool. It is a persons choice on how that tool is wielded.
If there is a will, there is a way...No job, lack of paycheck, or physical opposition has any influence one's artistic and creative lifestyle, that's a choice brought on by how an individual chooses to itemize their life.
Unless someone's got a gun to their head...they aren't bought or sold, they are either giving in or giving up, once again a personal choice.
Interesting flavor of words ya got going on here. I disagree with it though, simply because I know first hand that one can be as successful as they want to be and still maintain their creative spark. Letting the creative side be crushed...that's a choice.

I didn't come from a privileged background in any way, but the way my parents explained it was that if you find a good job, you keep it, because that's common sense. At the same time follow your dreams, because that is also important. So as I grew up I found ways of making work and dream fit together. I get paid to drive a semi truck all across the country...it's good job. While traveling has always been the dream, while it also allows for me to have time to do my favorite creative endeavors, such as writing and photography. But I'll admit... I do love money. But it's not out of greed or the collection of material wealth, it is simply the reality that a bigger paycheck helps lubricate one's flow along the path of life. It's true that everyone is going to have their own story, as we are individuals, but I have yet to come across anyone, that when deeply looking into their situation, that a "No Choice" ending, was never a choice. Of course one can't include those less than 18 years of age, for they are not able to make decisions without the hand of a parent or guardian. So, I am curious, for those over 18, in your view, what is a "No Choice" scenario?

BY GOING TO A MEANINGLESS JOB..." i think these lines illustrate that yes we are making a choice to clock in to work everyday, but whats the alternative? being a starving artist? thats just not realistic for most ppl,,, this poem is something i wrote because i know ppl could relate to being frustrated with spending 8hrs+ a day at a job which they loath, to make just enough money to barely make ends meet. then on top of that they have kids to raise and other daily responsibilities, you may call it a choice, but some dreams have to be put on the back burner just so we can survive... i do agree with u, if you really want it, u will go after it, no matter what... thats why u r reading my poetry, because i made a choice to sit down and spill my thoughts on paper,,, but that doesn't change the fact that i feel i would be a lot further along creatively, if i wasn't made to feel like "the good job way" was the only way to go... thanx for ur comment :-)
Great work, It flows like rap but works as a poem. a suggestion would be to clean up the lines. The large font kind of made the lines spill over themselves.
I think most of us can relate. Dead end job, bills piling up, one hand wishing to lose the job and the other scared to death you might.
