Manic Kaleidoscope

Manic Kaleidoscope

A Poem by serenity14
"

My experience with bipolar mania

"

Manic kaleidoscope

On the mountain high

The colors of my dreams;

I miss them once they are gone

Is this like being color blind?

Down in the trenches

The burning grays of my nightmares;

Is this the true reality?

Riding the rushing waves

The tears that soak my heart;

Do I deserve to hurt?

Free falling in my emotions

The ravenous peeling of my chest

Am I broken?

The white space of nothing

My lost soul;

Where did I go?

On the mountain high

The vibrant rush of joy;

Can I really do anything?

On the merry- go- round

The sprint of my persona;

Which me am I right now?

I worked with people diagnosed with bipolar disorder for 27 years. I knew one young woman who went through the full cycle 14 times in a day on some occasions. This poem really captures what people so diagnosed have to deal with.
