On the verge

On the verge

A Story by Saurav Sen

"
He turned back...still in dilemma. There it was. On the table by the sofa. The picture of the two people ..who would be happiest in the world to know he can come back now. But can he go back ? The other picture....that has long been removed..but it's still there..not even making the minutest attempt to fade.

No he can't go back. He can't have them to share the burdens of his mistake. They can'...t pay back his debts. In two hours now they'd be waking up. They'd call him then. just to hear his voice.. they do everyday. His "hello" meant a lot to them. They can't talk for long. Its night here. It's always night here.

It was a mistake.. to come here in the first place and then his extravagant ways. But the meltdown was not his fault.. right?? He was doing fine but all of sudden he lost it all. There's no turning back now. He's now standing on the railing of his luxurious apartment on the 36th floor..The city of LA looked like paradise from here. But beauty meant nothing to him now. He's lost between the smiles of those two people, miles way...and the successful escape to nothingness, just a step away
